LOVE INJECTIONS is a Swedish band into 60's rock like THE ROLLING STONES, but also 70's bands like NEW YORK DOLLS, ALICE COOPER and CHEAP TRICK. They describe themselves as fanatic rock & roll fans and seem to eat, live and nuts rock 'n' roll 24 hours a day. LOVE INJECTIONS was formed when KJ (vocals) and Tobbe (drums) quit their band THE JACKALS and Thomas (guitar) quit his band PLAN NINE, this must have been sometime in 2002. After a couple of months they got in touch with Rebecca (bass) and a 7 track demo was recorded and released in November 2002. This led to a publishing deal with Swedish music publishing company Misty Music and offers from several independant US record labels to release the demo as an album, which the band declined at that point since they had not recorded the material with an "official" release in mind. In 2003 they recorded 2 cover versions of CHEAP TRICK songs that ended up on a tribute CD called "Dream Tonight - A Tribute To Cheap Trick", which was released by the U.S. label Shark Bite Records in October the same year. In 2004 they finally released their second demo "3 Sheets To The Wind". They also found a second guitarist, Fredrik Simonsson, who is also a member of the swedish indie band SPIRAL STAIRS. Other bands that Thomas have played with in the past are BLACKENED (METALLICA covers), ALEXANDER SWING AND THE ATOMIC BARDS, NO QUIRES, KISSED OFF (KISS covers, Thomas was Gene Simmons) and as mentioned earlier PLAN NINE. KJ have been in POST SUICIDE and as mentioned above THE JACKALS together with Tobbe. Simon has also played with POST SUICIDE and a band called RSH. Check'em Out at: www.loveinjections.com/

Your sharp-shooting reporter at Hard Rock Info hooked up with KJ and Tobbe via ICQ on Sunday, June 13, 2004 and this is the result of that...
KJ & T: Hallojs! HRI: Hi! How's it going? KJ & T: Good - it's a bit hot but apart from that it's just fine.
Well, ready for some questions then? Yep, shoot.
Ok. Your first demo was released in 2002 and your second one this year. Why did it take so long? There were some personal problems in the band that resulted in things not going as fast as we wanted them to. We started to record in April 2003 and weren't ready until December. We didn't record continously throughout that period - just some minor stints on a bunch of different occasions.
Aha. Nothing serious then? Nah, everything worked out fine in the end.
Do you feel satisfied with what you've done so far? Yes, we're satisfied but on the other hand we know that we're getting better all the time, so we don't usually think that much about our recordings once they're released. When we don't feel that we're getting any better I guess it's time to quit.
Introduce the members of the band. What kind of creatures are you and what are you doing during the days? Errr, that sounds complex... KJ - Vocals - fanatic rock & roll fan, record collector and unemployed. Tobbe - Drums - fanatic rock & roll fan, record collector and unemployed. Thomas - Guitar - fanatic rock & roll fan, record collector, tricky and unemployed. Fredrik - Guitar - fanatic rock & roll fan and a janitor. Rebecca - Bass - energetic rock & roll fan and a black jack dealer.
Oh yeah. Are you always as bad at in-between-song-banter as you were in Herrljunga (at the Summer Festival on June 5 2004)? It all depends I suppose - there's nothing I hate more than bands that have pre-rehearsed in-between-banter, so I usually don't care too much about it. If I have anything to say I say it, if not than that's the way it goes y'know. I was probably a little too sober and uncomfortable in Herrljunga so that's the way it went.
It didn't have anything to do with "Korprock Aid 2004" then? [Only three bands got paid at the Summer Festival and LOVE INJECTIONS was one of the bands that didn't get paid, so they tried to be funny and stated that their concert was "Korprock Aid 2004", as the bands that got paid were all members of a foundation called "Korprock"/HRI] No, Thomas handled that.
Don't you have any record deals in sight? Yes, we got some offers after the first demo so we'll see if they're still intrested.
We hope that they are. You haven't played live that much yet, is that something that's gonna change? We play whenever we can but we've been pretty lazy when it has come to booking shows, hence the few gigs... But now we're getting out there more and more. There will be one week of gigs on Öland in July for example. [LOVE INJECTIONS will be playing with JETVICIOUS at Strandborg Hotel in Köpingsvik, Sweden between July 19-25 2004. And yes, they will be playing EVERY night/HRI]
What is your lyrics about and where do you get your inspiration from? I guess they're about things you've experienced... I figure we get inspiration from our day-to-day life.
Are you a party band? Hehe, no we're a rubber band.
Funny guy. Music and politics, is that something that you think fits together? There are some bands/artists who can pull it off but it isn't something that we're consciously into... On the other hand you kind of show your values when you write a song, so I guess it's a question of how you define what is political and what is not. I've never liked overtly-obvious political music...
What's your political stance then? We're all to the left wing I guess, not necessarily party-political though... But it's not like any of us walks around declaring some kinda manifest or anything. It's all about your actions towards your fellow man/woman I guess.
If you got the chance to do the LOVE INJECTIONS full-time, would you take that chance or are you just a hobby band? We are doing it full-time - that is as much as we can considering the fact that the members of the band lives in three different cities. [Thomas lives in Herrljunga, KJ in Skövde and the rest in Lidköping, and it is several miles between these places/HRI] The band comes first.
Ok, but it's not your job is it? It depends on how you define a job - no, we don't make a living of it yet, but on the other hand most of us doesn't do anything else y'know? f**k knows if I ever want it to feel like a "job" by the way... It's important that it never gets boring and becomes a routine.
Do you think you've found a style that you're happy with or will you continue to evolve? [What a stupid question/HRI] We will surely evolve and we have never really felt confined to any particular style. The thing about this band was that we wanted to do whatever we felt like doing and not think about it that much, and that's the way it works. That's what makes it fun - we can play whatever the f**k we want - country, rock & roll, reggae, soul... You name it. But it's usually R&R oriented because that's what we've all grown up with and listens to the most so it's embedded in our subconscience.
What future plans do you have for the band then? The first priority is to find a good label that wants to release our debut album. Chips Kiesby from SATOR [who has produced albums by SAHARA HOTNIGHTS and PLAN NINE to mention just a few/HRI] was very fond of the "3 Sheets To The Wind" demo and has said that he wants to produce our first album. He's not available until the winter however so that's not gonna happen until then I guess. Apart from that we're gonna record some new stuff on our own and do some gigs. We'll take it as it comes...
Sounds good. Was it a good interview or do you have anything to add? It was fine - I have nothing to add more than peace, love and tranquility to you all!
Thanks for the interview! If you haven't heard this band yet, head over to their website immediately!!!
/Jimmy Blom
