I have heard Sisters of mercy´s cover of Jolene, and some other songs and i´m curious about this band. Visiting their homepage didn´t help.. so are there any fans of them out there who can tell me what songs to listen to and which records are good?

The Sisters of Mercy have released 4 albums and 1 greatest hits album.
First and last and always (1985) Floodland (1987) Vision thing (1990) Some girls wonder by mistake (1992) A slight case of overbombing - greatest hits (1993)
I think the first 2 albums are probably the best but other people will probably disagree. You can get the CDs pretty cheap on Amazon or ebay.
I personally think this is a great band but I do agree that their web site is useless, it hasn't been updated in ages. Athough the band are supposed to still be together they don't tour very often and haven't released an album in a long time.

Sisters of Mercy are probably my 3rd or 4th favourite band, they're great indeed, and created something unique! And though I like them very much, I'm not quite aware of something else then their music. Indeed, the site desasperated me from the first moment I was in, and left it like this. But anywayz, from the albums, I really can't choose just one to say it's the best, because indeed every work of them is pretty great! Floodland and First And Last and Always are maybe what I like the most though, but also the collection "A Slight Of Overbombing" is wonderfu! (despite the fact they didn't put in there my fav "Amphetamine Logic", argh, but nevermind.. still it ROCKS!)

Thanks! I bought Floodland on LP today and will listen to it, and then i´ll see if it changes my life They changed mine! They played their first gig in my home town in York in 1981. I moved to Leeds as the goth scene got big around them there, did the goth thing and had a d**n good time in the mid 1980s! The ultimate goth band that spawned a thousand wannabees. Their video live at the Albert Hall is a good one to watch too. If you like dry ice. I prefer the older stuff, pre 1986 and the split that led to The Mission. First and Last is probably my joint favourite album ever along with the Mission's first one. The Floodland onwards stuff isn't really the Sisters as I loved them (although a great album), but more Andrew Eldritch and whoever he could get in the band at the time.
