SUZY SUNLESS: d**nED BY THE NITE from: Urotsukidoji´s pad, Canada
Well, I'm sure anyone reading this agrees, that the band's name just reeks of the worst monikers to have ever emerged out of the 80's L.A. Glam scene. Luckily, the band's music is much better than the name implies. "Suzy Sunless" is a Hard-Rock / Sleaze-Metal band from the city of Porvoo, Finland. They are fairly new to the scene, having just formed in 2000. They have apparently made a name, and procured a bad-boy image for themselves in Finland, where they can often be seen fighting, lighting nuts on fire backstage, and generally causing problems. Those responsible are: Timppa AKA "S. Strange" - vocals, June and Timo Tolkkinen - guitars, Altsi - bass, and Jammu - drums. This latest offering from the band is a short 3-song single, but it is enough to let me know these guys are the real deal. The band lists their influences as; Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Guns' n Roses, The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden and Rob Zombie. However, what I hear is more like Guns' n Roses mixed with the Backyard Babies, and mid 90's era 69 Eyes (their sleazy stuff before they became a Goth-Metal band). The first two tracks, "d**ned By The Nite" and "Ghost Driver", are solid guitar-driven rockers, that should easily get your drunken party started on the right foot. The third one, "A Little Bit Of Your Shine", kind of slows things down a bit, it's a ballad, but with a catchy chorus, and thankfully, it never gets too slow or too mushy. The band manages to take a Metal genre that has been beaten down for well over 10 years, and not only breathe some life into it, but make it sound modern and credible as well. If ya did the sounds of the before mentioned Backyard Babies, then this disc should totally be on you "to get" list. RATING = 8 Hard Edged Sleaze-Metal (Released 2003)

SUZY SUNLESS: d**nED BY THE NITE from: www.sleazegrinder.com, USA Finland’s furrowed-brow sleazedealers Suzy Sunless return with a stellar three-fer of their signature suicide-glam madness. I have no idea how SS manage to sound so inky-black morose while peddling slinky, kill-for-thrills raunch n’ roll, but the f**kers do it with style and grace on these three hot off the reels (recorded Nov/Dec 2003) tracks. The dramatically titled “A Little Bit of Your Shine” is a stand-out, a wrenching, 4-minute painflower that sounds like a Hanoi Rocks ballad belted out by the 69 Eyes, but opener “d**ned by the Nite”, a crunching ‘Total 13’ era Backyard Babies-meets 70’s power rock arena wrecker is pretty d**n boss, as well. And hell, while I’m at it, I might as well mention “Ghost Driver”, a sleazy, dive-bombing rocker that sounds kinda like Axl Rose fronting Smack, but mostly sounds like vintage Suzy Sunless. Just like it oughta. I’ve been a fan of SS since their first demo back in 2001, and this one does nothing to diminish my fondness for these brooding superrockers. Righteous.

Review of "d**ned By The Nite" of SUZY SUNLESS Released 2003 (Suzy Sunless) Track List: 01. d**ned By The Nite 02. Ghost Driver 03. A Little Bit Of Your Shine
Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Asa Nyman. Co-produced by Junde.
Review: My first question is, who slipped Shotgun Messiah's Second Coming into this Suzy Sunless package? As soon as I heard "d**ned By The Nite" it was if I was being transported back to the sleazy underside of early 90s hard rock. Finland's Suzy Sunless defy current trends on this three song single and seem willing to throw away fame and fortune in favor of pride and some contagious barroom disease. "d**ned By The Nite" is a scorcher, with just a pinch of punk, and an aggressive chorus. "Ghost Driver" is spewing with venom and a supercharged "Sweet Child O'Mine" guitar sound. The final song is a dark Kik Tracee type ballad, it gets the job done but doesn't offer anything new. Suzy Sunless' single is available at their website and is without a doubt a band to watch!
